Origin of Amaranth

Amaranth, of the genus Amaranthus, is a plant native to Central and South America. It has been appreciated for thousands of years, particularly by the Aztecs and Incas, who cultivated it for its nutritious seeds. The name "amaranth" comes from the Greek "amarantos", meaning "which does not fade", in reference to the longevity of the flowers.

There are many species of amaranth, but they all share common characteristics: feathery inflorescences, bright colours and robust growth. In modern horticulture, amaranth is prized for its ornamental qualities and its ability to add texture and colour to a variety of floral arrangements.

Advantages of Preserved Amaranth

Preserved amaranth is treated using a stabilisation process that replaces the natural sap with a preservative solution, often glycerine-based. This process allows the plant to retain its fresh appearance and suppleness for years, without the need for water or light.
